July Food Parcel (1)

From a July Care Worker’s Report:

“Sib. Nko. is a twelve-year old boy doing grade five; his sister, Tha. is fourteen and doing grade seven.  They are both at Zakheleni Primary School in Mahushu, and are doing quite well.

“Their mentally disturbed mother was taken away by her family when they saw that her condition was worsening, leaving the two children with their sick father, who could not take care of them.  Their aunt, who lives nearby, then took in the children to live with her and her family.  Both siblings are beneficiaries of the government child support grant, which they will receive until they are 18 years old.99.food parcel, Sib. “We gave this family a one-off food parcel because there are many people living in the house.  The aunt has several part-time jobs to make ends meet, but she doesn’t have a husband to help with her own children let alone the additional two.  We will keep on monitoring Tha. and Sib.’s stay with their aunt, and give them future emergency food parcels if the need arises.”
